Insulet announced clinical results for its next-generation tubeless insulin delivery systems at the American Diabetes Association's 86th Scientific Sessions.
Data from the STRIVE pivotal trial showed the Omnipod 6 system improved glucose control compared to the Omnipod 5. The new system required fewer daily user-initiated boluses. For type 1 diabetes users, Omnipod 6 increased time spent in the 70-140 mg/dL range by seven percentage points.
The trial reported no instances of severe hypoglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Feasibility data for a fully closed-loop system for type 2 diabetes showed improved time in range. This system reduced total daily insulin intake without causing weight gain.
