Qualcomm open-sourced its Modular AI software platform to establish a unified environment for artificial intelligence development. The framework allows AI inference workloads to run across hardware from Qualcomm, Nvidia, AMD, Google, and AWS.
This initiative simplifies the development process by removing the need to adapt software for different hardware architectures. Qualcomm released the Modular AI software stack under the Apache 2.0 license to encourage community contributions.
The move follows Qualcomm’s acquisition of Modular and targets the elimination of hardware-specific software lock-in. By decoupling software from specific vendors, Qualcomm aims to accelerate the deployment of AI applications across the industry.
