Online child safety campaigners formally requested the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate Roblox. The group filed a dossier alleging unfair and deceptive practices that endanger children.

The filing specifically criticizes the platform's chat features for exposing minors to harmful content and individuals. It also targets the Robux virtual currency for exploiting the limited impulse control of children.

Roblox strongly disputes these claims and maintains the platform promotes positive experiences. The company highlighted its existing safety policies and creator safeguards. Only 1.4% of users paid for services during the first quarter of 2026.

This development follows increased scrutiny of the company's safety measures. Roblox previously cited these safety concerns as a factor in its lowered 2026 financial guidance.
