Rheinmetall is seeking approximately 12 billion euros from the German government to take over the F126 frigate program. The proposal would increase the total project cost to roughly 14 billion euros.

This budget covers the construction of six warships. Rheinmetall’s naval division would replace Dutch shipbuilder Damen following six months of due diligence.

The offer includes an inflation clause and schedules the first delivery for 2032. This timeline represents a four-year delay from the original project schedule.

Berlin is considering purchasing MEKO A-200 frigates from TKMS for 1 billion euros each to gain negotiating leverage.
