Bitcoin’s rally toward $78,000 may allow Riot Platforms to reclaim collateral. This collateral secures a $200 million loan with Coinbase.
Riot originally pledged 3,977 BTC at the start of 2026. A market downturn in February necessitated an additional pledge of 1,825 BTC. Total collateral currently exceeds 5,800 BTC.
The price surge lowered the loan-to-value ratio to approximately 44%. Riot is now eligible to recover between 1,159 and 1,547 BTC. The specific amount depends on the loan schedule applied by Coinbase.
Reclaiming these assets requires a formal request and Coinbase's calculation. A successful return would increase Riot’s unrestricted Bitcoin holdings. This move improves financial flexibility without requiring principal repayment.
