RTX business Raytheon won a contract from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply SeaRAM self-defense systems for the Royal Australian Navy. The systems will equip a new fleet of 11 Mogami-class frigates under the Sea3000 program. This initiative replaces Australia's aging Anzac-class frigates.
The initial contract covers the first three ships currently under construction in Japan. SeaRAM integrates the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System with the Rolling Airframe Missile to counter cruise missiles and airborne threats. This agreement marks the first time Australia has procured this defense technology.
Raytheon will perform the work in Louisville, Kentucky. Deliveries for the defense systems are expected to begin in late 2028.
