Shares of Revvity (RVTY) vaulted 8.1% to $120.11 on July 14 after S&P Global Ratings upgraded the company's outlook, citing improving leverage and strong cash flow prospects. The move caps a remarkable recovery from a 52-week low of $81.22 and puts the stock above its prior one-year high — forcing investors to decide whether the health-sciences firm's financial housecleaning warrants the elevated price tag.

S&P Sees Debt Falling Fast, and That Changes the Credit Story. S&P Global expects Revvity's adjusted leverage — the ratio of debt to earnings — to decline to 2.7x by year-end 2026 and 2.4x in 2027, driven by revenue growth and profitability gains.

The agency forecasts annual free cash flow above $500 million, with $400–$500 million earmarked for share buybacks and less than $100 million for acquisitions.

The company plans to repay roughly $600 million in Eurobonds due this month, pushing gross leverage below 3x. For shareholders, less debt means lower interest costs and more cash returned through buybacks — a direct boost to per-share earnings.

Q1 Beat Set the Stage for Today's Confidence. In May, Revvity reported Q1 adjusted EPS of $1.06, topping the $1.02 consensus, on revenue of $711 million versus estimates of $704 million.

Organic growth came in at 3%, while updated FY26 pro forma guidance calls for 3%–4% organic growth and a 28.4% adjusted operating margin. That consistency matters: it tells the market management can hit targets while simultaneously restructuring the portfolio.

Shedding China Exposure Sharpens the Growth Profile. Revvity is divesting its China immunodiagnostics unit — about 6% of 2025 revenue — a business dogged by policy headwinds and weak cash returns.

The exit will trim roughly $0.15 from adjusted EPS in 2026 but is expected to lift organic growth by about 100 basis points and operating margins by 30 basis points annually. It's a trade-off: accept a short-term earnings haircut to own a faster-growing, higher-quality business.

The Valuation Question Investors Must Answer. At $120, RVTY trades at roughly 23x its midpoint FY26 adjusted EPS guidance of $5.25. Evercore ISI recently raised its target to $125 with an "Outperform" rating,

while Wall Street overall shows 7 Buy and 9 Hold ratings. Today's pop has already priced in much of the near-term good news. With Q2 earnings due August 4, the next proof point is whether recovering pharma and biotech spending can sustain this momentum — or whether the rally has outrun fundamentals.
