State Bank of India (SBI) will invest approximately $1 billion to develop an enterprise-wide artificial intelligence (AI) framework. CIO Abhay Pandey announced the strategic move at the ETBFSI CXO Conclave in Mumbai.
The initiative transitions the bank from isolated AI use cases to an integrated architecture spanning all operations. This new framework prioritizes governance, risk mitigation, cost optimization, and process re-engineering.
SBI aims to leverage its extensive customer data and operational scale to enhance efficiency. The investment reflects the bank's broader commitment to digital transformation and maintaining a competitive market position.
