SES AI completed a key milestone for the European Union’s IRIS² satellite program on August 7. This confirmation, reported on August 10, allows the sovereign connectivity initiative to proceed with implementation.
The company will commit up to €1.35 billion in capital for its segment of the project. This investment funds an 18-satellite constellation designed to provide secure and resilient connectivity for Europe.
The satellite network is targeted to enter service in 2030. SES AI confirmed its 2026 investment share is already included in its existing capital expenditure outlook.
