Sivers Semiconductors is investing $30 million to expand its Indium Phosphide (InP) manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Scotland. This strategic investment addresses surging demand from AI datacenters and optical networking infrastructure.
The expansion will enable the annual production of more than 100 million continuous-wave distributed feedback (CW DFB) lasers. Project construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. The expanded facility expects to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2027.
This move shifts Sivers to a hybrid manufacturing strategy. The company will combine in-house capabilities with external partners to enhance scalability and supply-chain resilience.
