SK Hynix is reportedly negotiating a prepayment with Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) to fund power grid construction. This infrastructure will support new semiconductor manufacturing clusters.
The proposed prepayment totals approximately 5 trillion won based on future electricity bills. Samsung is also participating in the strategic initiative to ensure stable energy supplies.
The arrangement provides KEPCO with infrastructure financing and reduces its debt reliance. SK Hynix secures essential resources for long-term growth in the competitive chip market.
