Samsung Electronics has surpassed Micron Technology to become the world's largest supplier of automotive memory semiconductors. According to S&P Global Mobility, Samsung’s market share reached 40% last year, representing a five percentage point increase. Micron’s share fell from 40% to 35% during the same period.
The shift follows Samsung's successful expansion in China and its strategic focus on high-capacity memory for vehicles. Demand is rising for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and sophisticated in-vehicle infotainment.
This leadership position provides a foundation for long-term growth. The automotive industry features high barriers to entry and significant difficulty in switching suppliers.
