Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong met South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on June 25, 2026. The leaders discussed a new large-scale semiconductor cluster located in the country’s southern region.
Samsung and SK Hynix are considering a combined regional investment between 300 trillion and 400 trillion won. The proposed development includes front-end memory production lines, advanced packaging facilities, and AI data centers.
This initiative targets expanded manufacturing for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and critical AI hardware. The project aims to enhance national semiconductor sovereignty and strengthen global supply chains.
While discussions are currently in the planning phase, a formal investment announcement is anticipated.
