Databricks agreed to acquire cybersecurity startup Panther Labs on Tuesday. This transaction marks the data analytics giant’s third acquisition in the cybersecurity sector.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. Databricks intends to use the acquisition to compete with established security management providers.

Panther Labs specializes in cloud-scale threat detection and security analytics. The startup reached a $1.4 billion valuation in 2021. This valuation followed a $120 million Series B funding round.

Databricks will integrate Panther’s technology to unify security and data analytics. The platform enables security teams to analyze vast amounts of data for threat detection.
