OMV Petrom commissioned a new EUR 140 million aromatics unit at its Petrobrazi refinery. The facility produces 150,000 tonnes of toluene and benzene annually for the chemical industry.

This investment increases toluene production by 50,000 tonnes per year. Total toluene output at the site will now reach approximately 100,000 tonnes annually.

The project replaces a unit from 1961 to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. OMV Petrom has invested over EUR 2 billion in the Petrobrazi refinery. These modernization efforts began in 2005.

Company shares rose 0.29% on the Bucharest Stock Exchange following the announcement. The stock traded at 1.038 lei, as reported by SeeNews.
