Sasol announced an unplanned stoppage at its Natref refinery, triggering a jet fuel shortage at Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport. An outage at a downstream unit prevented the company from meeting full supply commitments for certain fuel grades.

Sasol continues to provide partial supplies to airport customers while working to restore normal operations. The company is currently implementing measures to minimize further disruption to aviation services.

The Department of Energy convened an emergency meeting with the Airports Company South Africa and other industry bodies to address the crisis. Airlines such as FlySafair have initiated contingency plans and are seeking alternative fuel sources to manage shortfalls.
