Sony's PlayStation division will reboot its upcoming multiplayer game, "Horizon Hunters Gathering," after negative feedback from private playtests. The game, set in the Horizon universe, will remove its live-service components. It will be reworked into a traditional cooperative multiplayer game. This new version will feature a story mode and a smaller scope.
This decision marks another significant challenge for PlayStation's live-service market push. The strategy has seen several high-profile cancellations and failures, including the recent shutdown of "Concord." Developer Guerrilla Games has reportedly been overhauling the title since June. The studio has until December to impress executives with its new direction. The next mainline single-player "Horizon" game is reportedly still years away. Most of the studio had been focused on this project.
