In its dismissal motion, Sony argues it has no legal obligation to pass these refunds to customers. Sony's lawyers called the claim that tariffs were the sole cause for price increases "speculative and illogical." They cited other factors for price increases, including inflation, component costs, and currency fluctuations. Sony also noted it raised prices again after tariffs were invalidated. The company claims this move would not make sense if tariffs were the primary cost driver.
