Microsoft’s Xbox division will publish Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage title, Physint. Sony terminated its collaboration on the project in mid-June 2026. Kojima Productions subsequently sought a new partner to develop the game, which serves as a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Solid series.
The agreement expands the existing partnership between Microsoft and Kojima. The two companies are currently collaborating on a separate horror title titled OD.
Sony stated that its relationship with Kojima remains strong despite the cancellation. Industry analysts view the acquisition as a significant strategic victory for Microsoft. Xbox has secured a high-profile blockbuster previously exclusive to its primary competitor.
