Dan Sundheim’s D1 Capital Partners disclosed a new $21.54 billion stake in SpaceX, making the aerospace firm 61.91% of its reported portfolio. The filing revealed D1 as the largest hedge fund shareholder and tenth-largest overall investor in the recently public company. This enormous position dwarfs D1's next-largest holding, which comprises just over 3% of its portfolio, signaling significant conviction from the major investment firm.
As with all 13F filings, this disclosure reflects a position held at the end of the second quarter (June 30) and was made public on August 14, so it does not represent a real-time trade. The filing is the first time the position has been made public following SpaceX's IPO in June 2026. Reports indicate D1 had already built a substantial stake while SpaceX was a private company.
