MapQuest reached the No. 1 spot for navigation apps on the U.S. Apple App Store.

The surge followed President Trump’s August 27 executive order to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America. This move occurred during an escalating trade dispute with Canada.

While Google Maps updated its platform to reflect the new name, MapQuest publicly refused to implement the change. App downloads subsequently increased to 50 times the normal rate.

This milestone marks the highest chart position in the brand’s 30-year history. System1, a publicly traded advertising and technology company, owns MapQuest.
