Stellantis announced an additional one-week extension of the production halt at its Mirafiori plant in Turin, now running from July 27 to 31. This stoppage, which precedes a planned three-week summer shutdown, is attributed to ongoing shortages of critical parts, including engines and sensors. The facility produces the electric and hybrid versions of the Fiat 500.

This is not the first time production has been hampered at the Mirafiori plant. The repeated closures are raising concerns beyond just supply chain disruptions. Trade unions have suggested that the continued downtime may also indicate weaker than anticipated demand for the Fiat 500. In response to the news, shares of Stellantis saw a decline of approximately 1.7% in afternoon trading on June 29.
