Stellantis is reportedly evaluating the potential sale of its assembly plant in Brampton, Ontario, according to a notice received by the Canadian autoworkers union, Unifor. [21] This development introduces uncertainty for the future of the facility, which has been idled for retooling that was later put on hold.
The Brampton plant was originally scheduled to resume production in 2025, building the Jeep Compass. However, Stellantis has since shifted that vehicle's production to a different location. [21] The news comes as Unifor prepares to negotiate a new contract with the automaker ahead of the current agreement's expiration on September 20.
