Titan Mining Corporation confirmed elevated germanium levels across its Balmat-Edwards mineral system in upstate New York. The enrichment appears in six underground zinc ore bodies and two historic tailings facilities. This widespread presence indicates germanium is a characteristic of the entire mining district.
The company identified the Number 4 and Edwards tailings facilities as priority targets for recovery. Germanium is currently valued at approximately US$6,000 per kilogram. Demand for the critical mineral is rising in the semiconductor, AI, defense, and fiber optic sectors.
Titan Mining is now conducting studies to assess the economic viability of recovering germanium as a by-product.
