Tesla discontinued the one-time purchase option for Full Self-Driving (FSD) software across most of Europe on May 21, 2026. The company now requires a subscription-only model for its advanced driver-assistance system. This transition aligns the European market with the strategy Tesla implemented in North America earlier this year.

The new subscription costs €99 per month. Owners of Enhanced Autopilot receive a reduced monthly rate. The deadline for the €7,500 purchase price in Europe passed on May 20. UK customers previously paid £6,800 for the one-time option.

Tesla aims to generate predictable, recurring revenue through this software pivot. The company continues its European FSD expansion, recently launching the Supervised version in Lithuania. Lithuania is the second European nation to receive the technology, following the Netherlands.
