TMC’s U.S. subsidiary received formal certification from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for its USA B exploration license application. This certification advances the U.S. regulatory process for deep-sea mining.
The application area covers approximately 122,000 square kilometers of the seafloor. It contains an estimated 1.02 billion tonnes of polymetallic nodules. These nodules are rich in nickel, cobalt, and copper.
NOAA will now proceed with preparing a formal Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed exploration activities.
