Tesla officially ended production of the Model S and Model X at its Fremont, California factory on May 21, 2026. CEO Elon Musk delivered the final Signature Edition units to conclude the 18-year production legacy.

The assembly lines will be reconfigured within four months to manufacture Optimus humanoid robots. Tesla targets an annual production capacity of one million robotics units.

In a related update, Tesla confirmed its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system is now compatible with the Chinese market. Tesla shares rose nearly 2% on May 21 following the pivot toward robotics and autonomous driving.
