Tesla will invest an additional $250 million in its Giga Berlin facility to expand battery cell production.
The investment aims to increase annual capacity from 8 gigawatt-hours to 18 gigawatt-hours. This expansion supports Tesla's strategy to build a vertically integrated European hub and reduce dependence on Asian suppliers.
The company expects to hire over 1,500 new employees for battery production alone. Tesla currently employs nearly 11,000 people at the Grünheide plant. New battery production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
