Tesla submitted self-published safety statistics to regulators in Sweden and the Netherlands to secure Full Self-Driving (FSD) approval. A Reuters investigation found these claims rely on invalid data comparisons that exaggerate system safety. Traffic-safety researchers describe Tesla's assertion that FSD is ten times safer than human drivers as misleading marketing.

The Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) approved FSD for use in the Netherlands in April. This decision followed more than a year of internal testing and verification. RDW officials stated they did not rely on marketing claims or external statistics for the approval. Tesla is now seeking authorization for the FSD system across the entire European Union.
