Tesla has started vertical construction on a dedicated Optimus humanoid robot facility at Gigafactory Texas. Workers are currently erecting the first steel structures for the site. This project is part of a 5.2 million square foot expansion of the North Campus.
The facility supports a long-term plan to reach an annual production capacity of 10 million robots. While Fremont, California will handle initial low-volume manufacturing, Giga Texas will house the second-generation high-volume system.
This expansion represents a strategic shift toward robotics and artificial intelligence beyond electric vehicles. Market reports indicate no immediate reaction to the development.
