Tesla will launch public rides in its Cybercab robotaxi across North America as early as next week. The two-seat vehicle features no steering wheel or pedals.

This service replaces a limited pilot program that previously used retrofitted Model Y vehicles. Tesla designed the Cybercab specifically for mass production on public roads.

This strategy diverges from competitors like Waymo that utilize modified production cars or small-batch shuttles. New safety protocols include on-screen manual controls and full remote operation. Human operators will use these tools to intervene during complex autonomous driving scenarios.
