TSMC and Sony signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to develop and manufacture next-generation image sensors.
The joint venture will be located in Kumamoto, Japan. Sony will hold a majority stake in the new entity.
The partnership combines Sony’s sensor design expertise with TSMC’s advanced manufacturing capabilities.
The collaboration targets emerging physical AI applications. This includes a specific focus on the automotive and robotics sectors.
