TSMC has commenced mass production of its next-generation 2-nanometer (N2) chips. This milestone marks the company's first transition to nanosheet Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistors. The new architecture replaces FinFET technology, which served as the industry standard for over a decade.
The N2 process delivers a 10-15% speed increase over 3nm technology at the same power level. Alternatively, it offers a 25-30% reduction in power consumption at the same operating speed.
Apple, NVIDIA, and AMD have already secured initial production capacity for the new processors. Strong demand from the AI and high-performance computing sectors fuels the rollout. This launch reinforces TSMC's dominant position in the advanced semiconductor market.
