TSMC is constructing its 1.4-nanometer fab at the Central Taiwan Science Park ahead of schedule. Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and TSMC Vice President Arthur Chuang recently inspected the site to discuss development progress.
The main structure of the first plant is currently under construction. Workers have completed the foundation for the second plant. Permitting processes for two additional plants are currently underway.
The expansion project will create approximately 4,500 new jobs. Contractors expect to finish the first plant before April 2027. Test production will begin in the fall of 2027. TSMC plans to reach full production capacity in 2028.
