TSMC shares rose 1.7% in pre-market trading on June 17, 2026. The increase follows reports that Apple will use TSMC’s 1.4nm process for its future A22 Pro flagship chip.
The A22 Pro is scheduled for a 2028 release. This will be Apple’s first System on a Chip to utilize the 1.4nm node.
The 1.4nm process provides a 15-16% performance boost at the same power level compared to 2nm technology. The new node can also reduce power consumption by 27-30% while maintaining the same performance.
This partnership reinforces TSMC’s dominant position in the semiconductor industry. The technology will enable the next generation of consumer electronics.
