The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) published a report on July 10, 2026. Tupras' Izmit refinery was one of only two Turkish facilities to import Russian crude oil in June 2026.
Russian crude accounted for 60% of the Izmit refinery's feedstock over the past three months.
The refinery exported petroleum products to the United States after processing the Russian oil. These operations continue despite international sanctions and heightened geopolitical tensions.
