Uber will shut down its Nigerian operations on September 2, 2026. This decision ends the company's 12-year presence in West Africa's largest market.
The move follows years of driver protests over low fares and high commission rates. Severe macroeconomic challenges, including soaring fuel costs and currency devaluation, also drove the exit.
Uber previously exited Côte d'Ivoire in 2025 as part of a broader global restructuring. Customer support will remain active until September 23, 2026, to handle outstanding account inquiries.
