The White House announced new tariffs on imported drones and components to reduce reliance on Chinese technology. Large drones or those with sensitive capabilities like thermal imaging face a 100% levy. Smaller, less sensitive models will incur a 25% duty.
The move targets Chinese manufacturers like DJI, which currently dominates the U.S. commercial market. Most tariffs are scheduled to take effect on September 3, 2026.
Drones from the EU, Japan, and the UK will face lower rates. These allied nations will be taxed at 15% and 10% respectively.
