USA Rare Earth, Inc. (NASDAQ: USAR) secured a selection for up to $19.3 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
The award falls under the DOE’s Critical Materials Innovation, Efficiency and Alternatives program. This funding supports a pilot-scale rare earth element (REE) separations project to strengthen domestic supply chains for energy and defense.
The initiative aims to build pre-commercial separation capacity within the United States to address global mineral chokepoints. The total project value reaches approximately $50.5 million.
Non-DOE sources will provide the remaining $31.2 million in capital. Final scope, budget, and timelines remain subject to negotiations with the DOE.
