Visa placed Hims & Hers Health into its Acquirer Monitoring Program following a spike in July credit-card disputes.
The telehealth company now pays an $8 surcharge for every contested transaction. This penalty resulted in an estimated $75,000 bill for September alone.
Most chargebacks stem from the company's weight-loss subscription service. Hims & Hers must maintain a dispute rate below 1.5% for three consecutive months to exit the program.
The company also faces lawsuits from the FTC and two states regarding deceptive billing and difficult cancellation practices.
