U.S.-based Ingredion reached an agreement to acquire UK-based rival Tate & Lyle for approximately £2.7 billion. The cash transaction values the British company at 615 pence per share. Tate & Lyle’s board unanimously recommended the offer to its shareholders.

The merger combines Ingredion’s texture and sugar reduction expertise with Tate & Lyle’s sweetening and fortification portfolios. This strategic move aims to establish a global leader in ingredient solutions. The combined entity will focus on helping manufacturers develop healthier, more affordable food and beverage products.
