PepsiCo expanded its partnership with Fertiberia to deploy green hydrogen-based fertilizers across 400,000 acres of European farmland. The agreement targets greenhouse gas emissions in the supply chains for brands including Lay’s and Doritos.

Fertiberia will supply up to 150,000 tonnes of Impact Zero fertilizers annually. This supply target is set for completion by 2030. Initial pilots in Spain and Portugal demonstrated emission reductions of up to 20%.

The rollout now extends to France, Romania, Serbia, Greece, and Turkey. This expansion involves over 1,500 farmers.

The initiative addresses investor and consumer pressure to reduce Scope 3 indirect agricultural emissions. The production process replaces natural gas with green hydrogen to decarbonize the supply chain.
