Walmart launched Tap to Pay at select U.S. stores and Sam’s Club locations today. This rollout enables customers to use contactless methods including Apple Pay and Google Pay. The move reverses a long-standing strategy of exclusively promoting the proprietary Walmart Pay system.
All U.S. Walmart and Sam’s Club locations will adopt the technology by late 2026. Fuel stations will receive the update by mid-2027. Shoppers can use contactless cards, smartphones, or smartwatches for checkout. The initiative aims to provide more consumer choice and a seamless payment experience.
