Walmart is eliminating or relocating approximately 1,000 corporate positions. This consolidation targets technology and artificial intelligence teams to simplify organizational ownership and align roles with future skill requirements.

The restructuring supports an AI-led digital transformation to compete more effectively with rivals like Amazon. Global Chief Technology Officer Suresh Kumar and AI Acceleration Executive Vice President Daniel Danker announced the changes to create a more efficient operational structure.

Affected employees must relocate to company hubs in Bentonville or Northern California. Displaced workers may apply for other open roles within the company.
