Walmart is eliminating or relocating approximately 1,000 corporate positions. The restructuring consolidates technology and artificial intelligence teams to simplify the organization and clarify ownership.
Global Chief Technology Officer Suresh Kumar and AI Acceleration EVP Daniel Danker announced the changes in an internal memo. The move aligns roles with skills needed for an AI-led digital transformation to compete more effectively with Amazon.
Affected employees must relocate to corporate hubs in Bentonville or Northern California. Displaced staff will have the opportunity to apply for other open roles within the company.
