Ukrainian drones attacked the Slavyansk-na-Kubani oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. Debris from intercepted drones ignited a fire at the facility. Russian authorities confirmed at least one fatality resulting from the strike.

The Slavyansk plant processes nearly 4 million tons of crude oil annually. It serves as a critical hub for petroleum exports through Black Sea ports.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on two Russian refineries to disrupt military fuel supplies. The campaign aims to reduce Moscow’s revenue by targeting the energy and military-industrial complex.

The attack adds supply-side risks to a global market already strained by geopolitical tensions. Market sensitivity remains high due to ongoing friction between the U.S. and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
