Veru Inc. entered a clinical supply agreement with Novo Nordisk for the Phase 2b PLATEAU trial. Novo Nordisk will provide its weight-loss drug Wegovy (semaglutide) at no cost for the study.
The trial evaluates Veru’s oral drug candidate, enobosarm, in combination with Wegovy. The study focuses on older adults with obesity to determine if enobosarm preserves muscle mass and physical function during weight loss.
Veru will sponsor and conduct the trial while sharing data insights with Novo Nordisk. Veru retains full global rights to enobosarm.
Novo Nordisk holds the right of first negotiation for future combination therapies involving its GLP-1 products. Veru’s stock price surged significantly following the announcement.
