VinFast refuted reports that it suspended production plans for its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUV models in India. The automaker denied claims that it ordered suppliers to halt work while reassessing costs. The company will continue with completely knocked-down (CKD) kit assembly at its Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu.
India remains a critical market for VinFast’s long-term strategy to increase localization. The company received investment approval for the second phase of its plant expansion.
VinFast began vehicle deliveries in September 2025. The automaker sold over 10,415 electric vehicles in India as of August 2026.
