Micron Technology began manufacturing advanced 1-alpha (1α) DRAM at its Manassas, Virginia, facility on May 22, 2026. This modernized site produces the most advanced memory technology ever manufactured in the United States. The facility will quadruple the supply of DDR4 wafers for the automotive, aerospace, and defense sectors.

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra hosted the event alongside U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Federal CHIPS Act incentives funded the $2 billion project. This facility forms a key part of Micron’s broader $200 billion domestic investment strategy.

Micron stock (MU) gained momentum during Friday’s trading session. Market optimism followed the launch of the secure, onshored semiconductor supply chain.
