AeroVironment secured a $464.8 million contract from the U.S. Army for Enduring-High Energy Laser (E-HEL) systems. This award marks the first time a directed energy system has moved from prototype to production in the U.S.

The company will deliver numerous LOCUST X3 laser weapon systems over the next several years. These 30-kW systems provide critical air defense against unmanned aircraft systems and drones.

The Army will integrate the laser systems onto Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV). This contract establishes directed energy as a scalable defense solution for modern battlefield operations.
